One of the best short form pieces done on me! Bet’s The Business Of Hip Hop series. For my interview, we talked a lot about storytelling, thus the title of this. Shout out to BET.com and Timiza and team for the execution here because they truly took my storytelling seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever publicly admitted to my father’s profession. Back in grade school, I used to have to say “my father works in a grocery store.” One day, I’ll have to talk about my younger years and what it was like being the daughter of a number runner. I’ve always been good at math.
